With a medium-firm feel, our Eco Organic Mattress is ideal for side sleepers, as well as back sleepers and stomach sleepers. It provides optimized pressure relief and contours to your body’s natural curves. It is slightly less firm than our Avocado Green Mattress.

We use GOLS-certified organic Dunlop latex (CU863637), which is also Rainforest Alliance andFSC® certified(C156318). We make our GOLS-certified organic latexfrom co-owned farmer's societies and processing facilities in India and Guatemala, operating under the USDA's National Organic Program. It's made with ≥95% certified organic latex, the highest possible standard. Dunlop latex is naturally antimicrobial, cooler than memory foam, requires no adhesives to seam it together, and is more durable than Talalay latex. It is processed in a GOLS-certified organic facility in India that we also co-own. Our Eco Organic Mattress uses one seamless layer of organic latex — 2 inches in the comfort layer (D65 / 14-19 ILD, soft). The benefits of wool’s complex and natural physio-chemical structure are endless: it wicks away moisture, keeps your mattress smelling fresh, and acts as another all-natural fire barrier. It’s breathable — both warm and cool when you need it. Its natural crimp gives it bounce, body, and soft support characteristics. And it’s also non-allergenic (ideal for those who suffer allergies to feather and down or synthetic bedding products) and a renewable resource. No additives or synthetics are added to the wool. At Avocado, we add a layer of pure, naturally crimped GOTS-certified organic wool (CU 863637) (1 ounce per square foot) under the organic certified cotton ticking in every mattress. We do not blend any rayon, polyester, or flame retarding chemicals with our wool. Our organic wool has received STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®: Class 1 certification (19.HIN.68466, Hohenstein HTTI) — which requires annual lab testing to ensure no harmful substances are present as a result of processing, to include banned substances, toxic chemicals, pesticides, and dyes. For a luxurious and premium finish, we useGOTS-certified organic cotton(CU863637) in a soft, natural color, for a luxurious and premium finish, over a generous layer of organic wool with thin non-woven backing as a natural fire barrier. We do not use polyester fiber. Responsibly and ethically sourced from India, Turkey, Canada, and North Carolina, our organic cotton is a durable textile. We use rings to keep all the layers of the mattress in place without using toxic glues. 

We use up to 962 8" springs (in the California King). Made in our manufacturing facility, our border coils are a meaty 14.5 gauge, and interior zone coils are 12 gauge. (Higher gauges mean a thinner coil. Thicker coils deliver greater durability.) Eencased in a food-grade polypropylene fabric (non-woven and non-toxic), these premium springs float independently to further improve airflow, support, and spinal alignment.

Some companies use toxic chemical glues to bind their mattress layers together, which contributes to off-gassing and indoor air pollution. We do not. Instead, we use simple durable metal rings made from recycled steel to keep our mattress layers firmly in place.This mattress should not be stored in an upright position when not in use.

No flame retardants are used.Our Eco Organic Mattress uses only GOTS-certified organic wool, which is naturally fire-resistant. This wool has also been tested for harmful substances and meetsSTANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®: Class 1certification (19.HIN.68466, Hohenstein HTTI). Of course, as aMADE SAFE® Certifiedproduct, we do not use other chemical treatments, rayon blends, or fiberglass fiber fire socks are used.

On a scale of 1 - 10 (with 10 being the firmest), our Eco Organic Mattress rates as a 5, which is gentle yet medium firm. It's ideally suited for back and stomach sleepers, as well as lighter individuals and growing children — anyone needing natural cushioning and medium-firm support.

As a Climate Neutral Certified company since 2019, we've measured Avocado's annual cradle-to-consumer emissions, offset them by investing in climate change solutions, and started taking real action to reduce our emissions. We also recognize our offsets and reductions aren't enough. Solving climate change will require systemic solutions. That's why, through our partnerships with Ceres and the American Sustainable Business Network, we also advocate for state and federal policies that support equitable solutions to the climate crisis.

In 2022, by being intentional about our materials and manufacturing, we expanded our production facility footprint from two to five while still increasing the amount of waste we diverted from landfills by 9%, achieving an overall waste diversion rate of 78%. Mattress ships in a convenient rectangular box. The Eco Organic Mattress is vacuum sealed in recyclable plastic, but will soon be wrapped and rolled in upcycled paper — saving up to 30 feet of plastic per mattress! Paper can be recycled. This eco-friendly process is used on 90% of our mattresses.Avocado is one of the only mattress makers in America to wrap their mattresses in paper.

A 10-year limited warranty covers the Eco Organic Mattress.All foundations, bunkie boards, bed frames, and adjustable bases sold by Avocado have been specifically designed to meet the structural support requirements of this warranty if used correctly and unaltered. Your 100-Night Avocado Eco Organic Mattress trial begins after you receive your mattress, and is limited to one mattress per household, after a minimum of 30 days, according to policy terms and conditions. Shipping and in-home delivery setup fees are non-refundable. Returned mattresses incur a $99 fee. A law label is a legally required tag or label on new mattresses describing interior filling materials. Few companies will share this information before your purchase because it separates fact from marketing hype. We believe differently.
